The grand opening session will go off with a bang. We start at 4pm with the official opening by the Mayor and all the paparazzi keen to get photos out on the Beach Bar. Then kick straight off with Giniversity (separately ticketed event at $45, 40 minute session includes gin tasting and make your very own Gin cocktail!) and of course all the 30 plus food, wine, beer and event stalls.

At 5:30pm and again at 7pm there is the Kate Lamont Degustation tasting not to miss. Three superb fish dishes matched to three of  WA’s Finest chardonnays (one hour duration).

At 6.30 the beach barbecue will commence with choice of $20 whole fish Jimbaran style, Half Rottnest cray tail, or fish (of the day) fillet. There is also a Paella Masterclass at 5.30 by Ole Paella.

Or grab a share platter and make your own fabulous seafood platter, start with ½ kilo of Shark bay wild prawns $20! And add more with your taster tokens from all the stalls.

Live music kicks off at 4pm with Georgeous George Green, then 6pm the great Sean Gorman (from Salary) and friends Takes over. Then DJ Karl will play his famous beach party set till close.

There will also be food demonstrations and seafood 101 classes in the seafood Garden.

The morning kicks off with the arrival of our very own Mermaid at 11 (they love seafood!), swimming straight in from the sea! She will join our other Freedom Fairies as they entertain the little ones. There will also be a cupcake/all things sugar class on and the St John ambos will be there to educate the kids on first aid as they crawl through the ambulance. The local Freo surf club heros will also be there doing some fun activities. The show begins of course with all the 30 plus food, wine, beer and event stalls.

At 12.30 The big culinary show begins with food royalty Anna Gare and Scott Bridger from Bib and Tucker doing a food demo. Then there will be seafood 101 shows on the basics of seafood through the afternoon culminating with the great Stuart Laws giving a free ceviche masterclass at 3.

Other demonstrations will occur throughout the day with the smoker Legend Don Smoker, fish filleting, and an angry Ranga beer batter by Matsos (use your wristband free tokens to taste this!).
